Study | Fun with History

Updated: Aug 24, 2018

I'm a huge history swot and almost as big a history gaming swot. Can I interest you in some table top games based on historical themes that don't seem to have games specifically for them yet?

HAMMURABI: CODE OF FLESH AND STONE

Hammurabi is laying down the Law and your goal, as a quintessentially lawless Mesopotamian, is to get away with as much stealing, killing, and general mayhem before the great Lawmaker makes everything punishable by death!

HUANG: IMPERIAL AMBITION

Unite China in this fast-paced game of prestige-building, back-stabbing, and explosive warfare!

OSTRAKON: SHARDS OF DEMOCRACY

Do you know where the word "Ostracize" came from? It came from the Greek word "ostrakon" which is the shards of pottery that acted as ballots for one of Democracy's oldest traditions: voting people OUT of society. Ostrakon simulates that reality-show action with a game of secret voting and not-so-secret expulsion!

HEIRS TO ALEXANDRIA

Alexander the Great is dead and his empire has shattered! As one of the heirs of his Empire, it is your job to raise an army, consolidate power, and reunite Alexander's Empire!

LET'S KILL IVLIVS CAESAR

Caesar, the tyrant, must die! But it needs to be exactly 23 times or else he survives! Who will be the one to get that proper final stab in?

DREAMS OF AN EVERLASTING BYZANTIUM

Constantinople Now, Constantinople Forever! Your task as the last heir to one of the Byzantine Empire's great families is to claw your way up to the top of the Imperial chain of command while helping your rivals secure the last stronghold of Ancient Rome from invading Turks, pillaging Crusaders, or scheming Venetians.

LIBRARIANS OF BAGHDAD

You are a Librarian of History's most Magnificent Library! Collect the right books and you may save it from the ravages of cataclysm and the decline of empires!

THE DIET OF WORMS (and THE DIET OF WORMS: EX CATHEDRA)

The Fate of Europe is in your hands! Do you protect Martin Luther and his vision for a reformed Church? Do you stand staunchly with the Pope and his universal authority? Or will you make sure that history runs its course right into a bloody schism?
